Our mission is to provide a variety of meaningful opportunities for people 55 years of age and over to participate more fully in the life of their communities through significant volunteer work. Volunteers will utilize their skills and experience as they benefit their communities.
Freezer Meals
This program needs volunteers to cook, package, and freeze meals on site (usually a senior center). After preparation is complete, volunteers collect the meals and bring them to the Department on Aging, where the meals are packaged according to a person's needs. Meals are then delivered to homebound elders living in our rural areas.
Shopping for Seniors
This program serves those who cannot shop for thenselves. On Wednesdays, volunteers are needed to call homebound seniors and write down their grocery orders for that week. Based on these orders, volunteers then shop for, and deliver, the groceries on the following day.
Cell Phones for Seniors
This program provides recycled cell phones to senior citizens for 911 emergency calls. With this resource, senior citizens can be more independent. Volunteers help with collection of used phones.
Commodities
Anyone interested in helping with commodities can visit or call our office. Commodities are distributed once a month. Volunteers are needed to help sort, box, and distribute these much needed food items.
Meals on Wheels
This program helps people stay in their own homes through the use of volunteers who deliver noon meals five days a week. Volunteers are often the only daily face-to-face contact for people who are otherwise isolated. Routes are available in all parts of the larger cities in Butler County.

The first step in becoming an RSVP volunteer is enrolling in the program. The benefits of becoming an RSVP volunteer are: mileage reimbursement, excess liability insurance, invitation to annual recognition event, monthly newsletter.
RSVP volunteers do have their volunteer hours documented. Tracking volunteer data is a valuable tool in detailing and highlighting how volunteers impact a community, what they accomplish, and just how valuable they are to the operation of hundreds of non-profit organizations, schools, and health care facilities in our towns and cities. Without the tracking done by RSVP, the efforts of volunteers remain unidentified in any comprehensive way. This leads to a total lack of knowledge as to the true impact of today's volunteers on the welfare of each and every citizen. In addition, the data collected is shared with legislators who then use the information to help determine how to allocate funds for volunteer efforts such as RSVP and other National Service programs like the Foster Grandparent Program and the Senior Companion Program.
